Cultural library to honor slain girl

A $2,500 grant from the 100% For Kids Credit Union Education Foundation will be used to create a multicultural library at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in the name of Hser Ner Moo, who was murdered last March.
The 7-year-old girl, part of the Karen ethnic group from Burma, was found dead in an apartment just steps away from where her family lived. The man charged in the killing is awaiting trial.
The grant, scheduled to be presented Tuesday to the girl's family, will be used to purchase dual-language and bilingual books to help create understanding and appreciation of different cultures. Hser Ner Moo was a student at the school.
