School Grants

$1,000-$5,000  School grants are intended for a multi classroom project.  This can be anything from updating the equipment in a school’s science lab, to art supplies for an entire grade.  We suggest that you read some of our samples of School Grants before applying.

School Grants are reviewed on a quarterly basis.  Once your School Grant request is received, you should receive a letter within 2-3 weeks notifying you of the date your grant will be reviewed.

School Project Grant Request

Amount: $2,204.65
Number of Students the project impacts: 52

Purpose of the Grant
The purpose of my project is to provide students with multiple resources to help them grow and learn.  I have learned that different students learn in different ways and it is essential to have many learning tools so that each child can excel.  Last year was my first year teaching and I struggled to find ways to adapt to all of my students based on the materials available.  Oftentimes I had to use my own money to make a fun, enjoyable, and effective learning community.  My hope is that eventually I have so many activities and resources that all of my students have an enjoyable and successful Kindergarten year!

Describe how this project meets the Major Project qualifications:
My project meets the mini-grant qualifications in all ways.  First, I am a Kindergarten teacher in the state of Utah.  Secondly, all of the materials bought will be used directly in the school by my students and possibly other Kindergarten students in my school.  Lastly, I have not been awarded a grant before and I intend to submit all receipts of purchases soon after awarded the grant.

If your request is granted, how do you plan to maintain the item(s) requested?
I plan on maintaining the items granted by setting expectations with the children on how to use the materials and how to keep them in good shape so we can have them the whole year.  I will organize where everything is and make sure the children know where things can be found.  I believe that when you are organized things tend to stay in better shape.  Everything has a place and nothing gets lost or broken because it was not put back right.

I will also maintain the materials by restocking them as needed.

What is your school's current inventory of the materials applied for?
Nothing I have applied for is in the school's current inventory.  It is expected that you purchase it on your own or with legislative money if you would like it.

What other resources have you looked into for funding this project?
I donate money each month from my own paycheck to the Alpine foundation and I have legislative money.  I have simply found that this is not enough to have an interactive, fun, and truly effective.
